My
name is Adam Neil and I am a college student in America. Though
my parents are from America, I grew up in Asia. That has given
me a unique perspective of life in American college. I hope
that these short episodes can give you a feeling for life as
a college student in America.

Freshman
The new school year has started again, and there are a whole new group of students that are coming to college for the first time. As all the returning students come back to school and settle back into classes and meet their old friends, these freshman have to get used to a whole new way of life.
They have never had a college class before, and have never lived away from their families, in a dorm. Because of this, the first few weeks, they spend a lot of time trying to get used to college, and meet many new friends. Some of them aren't able to manage their time well, and end up struggling with their school work.
Another thing that most students struggle with is their weight. There is a saying called the Freshman 15, and it refers to the fifteen pounds that many freshman gain. Because the cafeteria is buffet style, and students can eat as much as they want, they end up eating too much and gain weight.
