23: 延迟了
Delayed
The metallic screeching sound grew louder and louder. The horn of the train boomed, and the train came to an abrupt stop without having completely pulled into the station. It was apparent to Molly that something had happened. But from where she was, close to the end of the curved platform, she couldn't see what had happened ahead. She could see, however, that some of the passengers on the platform were moving toward the front for a better view. Some employees at the train station ran to the head of the train.
Realizing that there might have been an accident, Molly was also curious and wanted to see what had happened. Then there came an announcement, "Due to an incident on track two, the southbound train service will be delayed. We apologize for the inconvenience."
It reminded her that she was running late for the dinner with Sean. When the same announcement came through the loudspeakers again, Molly looked at her watch and realized that she would be quite late if she kept waiting. She went to the nearest exit and left the train station.
When Molly arrived at the nearby taxi stand, there was already a long line of people waiting. By the time she got into a taxi, she only had 10 minutes left to get to the restaurant. The trip would normally take half an hour even by taxi.
"901 Tower. Please hurry!" Molly told the driver.
The taxi finally arrived. Molly was 25 minutes late. "I'm really sorry I'm so late. There was a train accident, and I had to take a taxi here," Molly rehearsed in her mind her line of apology as she was led to the table in the restaurant.
